Bill has spent more than 15 years researching working sheepdogs and like many breeds, the Border collie history has been embellished due to adoration by fanciers and for commercial reasons .As the well read 1880’s author, Hugh Dalziel implied, many writers of the past took advantage of readers fascination with the breed and wrote to capture their hearts. At the time it was considered, good marketing at the expense of their true history.
